Let the Children Come

By Gary Woodall

So, another Karns VBS is in the books! There seemed to be a special electricity in the air this year as the children’s beautiful innocence was on display. Their laughter and joy was overflowing and contagious to the grown-ups too! You could see and almost feel the bonds between them strengthening as they had fun together and learned about the things that can bond them for eternity.

I still remember Vacation Bible School at Karns more than 50 years ago and I remember by name some of the individuals who were making it happen way back then.

Those of you who helped in any way with VBS can take comfort that your efforts are not in vain. Some of these children will remember their VBS at Karns many years from now and those who touched their hearts the way mine was so long ago.

So many did so much that I could not recognize you all here, but I think I must give “honor to whom honor” is due (Rom. 13:7). The Tennessee Children’s Home boys did the lion’s share of the work putting away the many folding tables, chairs and more at the end of VBS. They displayed respect, good attitudes, willingness to serve, and the joy of doing good deeds. A special thanks to Tennessee Children’s Home and the boys!

So many of you did so much! Thanks to every one of you!

15 After laying His hands on them, He departed from there. Matthew 19:13-15 (NASB)

2 And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, 3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like

children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 “Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the

kingdom of heaven. 5 “And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;
