There will always be things and subjects in which people will have no interest. And while some things may pique one’s interest, they may choose to remain uninvested. To be uninvested in something or someone will likely mean the person will be unengaged, unattached, and uncommitted.
Sadly, some may choose to be uninvested in their relationship towards God. Perhaps they believe in God but are content to invest themselves no further. Such individuals can be self-reliant, self-sufficient and may be satisfied to remain idle and watch from a distance. They may attend church but are not intentional, they may be present but not engaged, and attending elsewhere or not at all are always options.
The Bible has a lot to say in Revelation 3:15-19 about being lackadaisical or lukewarm in one’s relationship towards God. The Lord admonished the church in Laodicia for being lukewarm and called them to repent. “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’’ (verses 15-17).
Anyone invested in something they care deeply about will allocate a lot of time and effort to it. Being invested in one’s faith and relationship towards God means one is not merely going with the flow and not merely watching from the sideline, but they are an active participant in the body of Christ. Their presence is intentional, and walking away is never an option.
Jesus spoke in Mathew 16:24-28 that “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Verses 24-26).
May one’s walk of faith in God be intentional and unwavering.
