Trust God

“But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand (Psalm 31:1415a).

In January, Sherrye and I were at Mt. Sinai where Moses received the 10 commandments. We also stood on Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land in Israel. Both events gave us unforgettable mountain top experiences that were both literal and spiritual.

Our Bible Lands tour with Freed-Hardeman was a very great and enjoyable trip and gave us a much greater understanding and appreciation for all the events in scripture that took place where we were. It was uplifting to worship with brethren in Nazareth and share in their struggle to remain relevant in a multi-religious environment. Those two weeks for Sherrye and I was an experience that we will never forget, and we are grateful to God for allowing us to travel safely and return home.

Life has a way of throwing us a curve every now and then and most of the time we don’t even see it coming.

We got back home and within a few days discovered that Sherrye’s breast cancer had returned. We have now spent the last couple of weeks seeing doctors and having tests to determine the extent of the cancer and the best approach for surgery and treatment. This could be a cause for us to experience a new low in life, but instead we are grateful to God for allowing us to find it early. God has led us to a good surgeon and we already had a good oncologist (God provided him back in 2007), so with God’s hand upon us we will get through this trial in life just as before.

We believe that God can take this event in our lives and turn it into yet another mountain top experience for us. No matter where we are in life, whether on Mt. Nebo or in the valley of cancer, we can always trust God to bring us out on top.

From high on top of Mt. Nebo we could see the Dead Sea which is the lowest place on earth. And when were standing on the shores of the Dead Sea we could see the top of Mt. Nebo. No matter where you are in life, trust God, and you will always see the top.
