Man of God

By Gary Woodall

Adam was created in God’s image (Gen. 1:26-27). He was assigned responsibilities as a steward of God’s creation (Gen. 2:15-18). He was created to think and act in conformity to God’s character. Many men have shown us how not to be a man; they have gone against God and perverted his ways. (Deut. 13:13, Prov. 6:12-14; 16:27-28). They have perverted the relationship God intended men to have with women (Rom. 1:24-32, I Cor. 6:9-10).

Men have perverted the teachings of the church. The early church was plagued with men who were false teachers. (Matt. 7:15, Matt. 24:11, 2 Timothy 3:13, 1 John 4:1).

You can see that men can do all sorts of wrong.

Real men of God know their Bibles and do the right thing! If you want to be sure that you don’t fall for false teaching, you need to know what the true word of God is so you will recognize that which is false, contrary, or counterfeit. (2 Tim. 2:15; 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Pet. 3:18, James 1:22).

Real men of God don’t distort, pervert, or deceive. Prioritizing our study and our service to God is what real men do.

Real men step up to fill the gap when the call goes out for men to serve God, his church, and his fellow man. Real men step up when they are needed to serve God, church, family, and fellow man.

Real men model their life after Christ. They put on a “a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Col. 3:12). Real men turn from “ungodliness and worldly desires” and they live “sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age” (Titus 2:12).

Real men seek to be spiritually mature (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Eph. 4:11-16).

The greatest man that ever lived was Jesus Christ; He was fearless, both strong and gentle, and He came not to be served, “but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

Real men are tireless servants! Real men are not cowards (2 Cor. 4:1, 16; Rev. 21:8)

Men, decide today to be like Christ and to step up to serve anywhere and anyway you can.

With love and prayers for all to go to heaven,

Gary Woodall
