This is an exciting week at Karns Church of Christ. It is the Southeast Leadership Camp! This is a fun and educational time for young men and women ages 12-18. We have 64 campers, 28 young men and 36 young women. We have campers from New Jersey, Virginia, Alabama and of course, Tennessee.
The young men learn how to write and deliver a sermon. They are taught by our staff and several youth ministers. Three young men will deliver their sermons on Sunday morning. The songs and prayers will also be led by young men. The elders encourage all to come out and support their efforts.
The young women will learn how to prepare and teach Bible classes to children and other women. Several of them will present their lessons to ladies in the Large Fellowship Room on Sunday morning. All ladies are invited to listen to their presentations.
Paul wrote I Timothy to a young preacher. His guidance is appropriate for all our young men and women. In I Timothy 4:7& 8 he wrote, “train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” We pray that this week will inspire these young people to teach the word for the rest of their lives.
The elders want to recognize the hard work of the staff and particularly those volunteers who make this learning experience possible. There are several who use vacation time to help this effort succeed.
And if you missed out on helping this week, remember that our Vacation Bible School starts on Sunday night, June 20. We need many more volunteers for that important week. Please also remember to invite your friends and neighbors as there are classes for all ages.
