Calamity and Destruction!

Albert Einstein said, “Nothing happens until something moves.” There must be action for anything to happen. Others have said, “Nothing gets done unless you move.” We have to move, we have to take action to get anything done. If we sit complacently idle then nothing happens.

Jesus said,

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill… Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matt 5:14-16).

In the church of Christ we are called to be a city set on a hill. This requires action (doing something): lighting our lamp, letting our light shine, and doing good works.

In the story of the wise man and the foolish man Jesus said that if we hear His words and do them we are like the wise man who built his house on the rock and the rain, floods, and winds could not prevail against that house. It stood firm!

The foolish man hears His words and does not take action to do them, so when the rains, floods and winds come, his house falls and great is its fall (Matt. 7:24-27). Calamity and destruction prevail for the foolish man. Stability, protection, and salvation are provided for the wise man.

Are you wise or are you foolish? Will you stand firm before the Lord or will your life end in calamity, destruction, and suffering forever?

Be a doer. There are blessings in doing (James 1:25). We are expanding our facilities to the end of seeking and saving the lost. What are you doing to help? Be a doer, do what you can! Move, take action every day to both know and do God’s will.

Let’s build on the rock and let it be said of the Karns church of Christ that we know God’s word and we do it!
