April is Bible Education Month

By Dave Benner

This weekend we spent Friday and Saturday in Nashville at the Lads2Leaders Convention. Nashville’s Convention is only 1 of 9 in the US and had an attendance of 9100. Total attendance this year is estimated at 30,000. Adult and youth participation at Karns increased from 35 to 60 this year.

How encouraging it is to see so many young people leading songs, making Bible speeches, competing in Bible Bowl, and other activities. The elders want to thank Lee and Lynlee for leading this effort this year. We also thank the Salmons, the Washingtons and the Trices for helping our youth prepare for this event over the past 8 months. Our participants are listed in the bulletin. Please take an opportunity to congratulate these fine young people. The future of the Church is bright with so many serious Bible students.

Next year’s theme is, “Not Ashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16).” Of course, the Bible Bowl will be based on Romans. Parents and youth can now start to read and study Romans!

The next event in “Bible Education Month” is our 48th annual Lectureship. “United: Becoming One in Christ” is this year’s theme. The learning begins on Sunday, April 23 and continues through Wednesday night April 26. Weekdays start at 7 with breakfast and the first lecture at 8:30. We have a total of 18 lectures by learned men over the 3 days. We also have 6 ladies’ classes by learned women. We have congregational singing every weeknight at 6:15 followed by a Gospel sermon.

There are many ways to support the Lectureship. First, please support the congregational meal on Sunday morning. You can also help in the kitchen and in the serving line and clean-up. Plan to attend and participate in lectures whenever you can, day or evening. Finally, we can all pray for a safe and successful Lectureship!
