Another Forever His

Last weekend we had our regular semiannual “Forever His” Day Camp.  This is a ministry of the Karns congregation where kids and adults with moderate to severe disabilities come to the building on a Saturday for a six-hour time of activities.  Those who attended were able to enjoy the company of volunteer buddies and events such as a hayride, bounce house, crafts, and more. This also gives the parents of the campers a cherished time to themselves.

At this Forever His event we had over sixty campers, the largest attendance so far.  The number of volunteers who stepped up to help was heartwarming. Many different positions were needed: buddies for the campers, event helpers, food helpers, decorators and more.  We also had several volunteers from area congregations. This event could not happen without the help of willing Christians fulfilling God’s word:

  • “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).
  • “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:10).
  • “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act” (Proverbs 3:27).

If you missed the Forever His Camp last weekend, you missed a great opportunity to serve God and display your affection for those less fortunate. I am thankful for all who chose to come and take part, especially Kim Higginbotham for her countless hours to make this event a reality. To those who didn’t help this time, another Forever His Camp will come in about six months.
