At Karns we are blessed by all age groups, which include the youth, college-age, growing families, middle members, and Young at Heart. Each group serves to help those in similar phases of life to develop bonds here on earth. The shepherds also recognize that Karns has a good number of young adults (approximately 65) that would benefit from bonding and developing relationships with Christian brothers and sisters.
For young adults, this is an important time in their lives as they begin to venture out on their own and establish themselves. Often times young adults are not sure where they fit in, may not develop bonds like one would hope, and may not feel connected. Some may be deciding their level of commitment to Christ and the church. The shepherds believe this is a crucial time for young Christians that deserves attention and support.
At Karns, we desire to encourage, nurture and help everyone grow in faith through all phases of life. Just as Paul encouraged young Timothy, we want to make sure we are helping and encouraging our young adults. “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” I Timothy 4:12
For some time the Vision Book has included a page for the Young Adult Ministry, but the ministry area was lacking a coordinator. Two young couples have agreed to be coordinators for the Young Adults Ministry area: Chris and Meagen Trice and Spencer and Hannah Clark. The shepherds are very thankful for their willingness to serve in this important area.
The elders are hosting a lunch on June 30th following Sunday morning worship for the young adults, which include the young singles and couples. The purpose of the luncheon is to have a fellowship and the initial kickoff meeting to discuss the Young Adult Ministry area. All food will be provided, so we encourage all young adults to attend.
