Working Together in Time of Need

The Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (ESV):  “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:10, ESV).

We have enjoyed an abundance of blessings from God and are eager to share with our brethren who are helping those suffering in this great affliction brought about by Hurricane Helene.  We have been praying for those in distress desiring to do more than solicit God’s blessing on them, but also provide funds for them to deliver help to those in need.

As you know, we have recently been privileged to provide aid for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and those residing in their communities who suffered from the effects of the hurricane.  The funds provided by our members and the monies received from other churches and individuals were put to good use by churches of Christ in Elizabethton, Johnson City, Greeneville, and Morristown, TN as well as Boone, NC and Banner Elk, NC.  These churches and their members are providing personal help to those directly impacted by the storm. For this we are so appreciative and thankful.

“For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us” (2 Corinthians 8:3-5 (ESV).

It is a great thing when as brothers and sisters in Christ we can work together to allow the churches of Christ to shine as a beacon of hope in this time of need.

As of this writing, a little over $65,000 provided for this relief.  To God be the glory!
