What’s Ya Doing?

Sherrye and I just had a great weekend spending time with all four of our grandchildren. Although it can be tiring and trying to keep up with all the things they want you to do with them, it is also very rewarding. Many times throughout the weekend either Adalynn or Wrigley would ask, “what’s ya doing?” Whenever I would stop playing with them to do something else, it did not matter whether it was looking up something on the computer, working around the house or just checking my phone for messages, they would invariably wander over and ask, “what’s ya doing, Poppa?”

What if while we were here for worship services on Sunday or Bible study on Wednesday and some little one came up to us and asked that very same question, “what’s ya doing?” How would we respond? Would we just say, “Well I am here” or maybe we would be even bolder and say, “I’m just waiting until service is over so I can go home.” I would hope most of us would give answers like, “I am here to worship our God” or “I am participating in the work here at Karns to the best of my ability” or “I am looking for ways to be more involved to further the Lord’s kingdom.”

We just participated in a family meeting last Wednesday night where we talked about a variety of things going on at Karns. Hopefully we all learned something more about our family and our plans going forward. But even more importantly, maybe you saw an opportunity to become more involved in promoting the needs of our church family and areas where you can be of further service to God. It takes the collective efforts of everyone working together to truly fulfill the Lord’s desire for His church. (Eph 4:16)

And so, if you were asked today, “what’s ya doing?” what would your answer be?
