Since we are expanding the auditorium we have dealt with construction hazards around the hallways. We have warned parents (and grandparents) to closely watch where the children walk. Do you know that it behooves every Christian to take care in our walk?
Consider Paul’s advice in Colossians 2:7, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith as you have been taught abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Of course Paul is using the term “walk” to mean the manner of life a Christian should live. Paul says just taking root in Christ is not what Christian living is about. We need to experience growth in our faith and live that faith with thanksgiving for what He has done for us.
In the next verse Paul warns us to beware of those who would lead us astray with philosophies, traditions of men and the principles of the world that are not according to Christ. This advice is just as appropriate now as it was back when Paul wrote Colossians. There are many, many distractions that can divert our path away from Him.
Further, it is important to walk in Christ if we are to be forgiven of our sins. In I John 1:7 John writes, “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Notice that Christians will have forgiveness of ALL sin if we walk in the light.
Let us make every effort to walk in Him this week. Let us also consider how we can help others to do the same.
