Many great things happened this past weekend. Nine graduates of the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies were honored last Saturday (six graduated May 2018 and three will graduate December 2018). Sunday, representatives of Freed Hardeman University were present to provide information and conduct a college planning session; President David Shannon taught the adult Bible class and delivered a great sermon.
We also met for the first time in our newly expanded facility. I am so thankful for our congregation and its patience while separated into two Sunday Morning services. Many thanks to all those in the background that made it possible (sound, lighting, coordination of men serving, communion preparation, staff, and janitorial to name a few). Thanks to our song leaders that led both AM services in singing and to our ministers who delivered both AM sermons. All of these efforts and so many more ensured that our members, although separated by time, were still fed the same.
I’m thankful for the new facilities – Southeast has new classroom space and study areas, and the auditorium now permits room for growth. I am most thankful that we are Together Again! We were reunited as a body into one worship service following approximately 6 weeks of having two morning services.
Our time as Christians together is so important. We come together as one to worship God, and together we benefit from a study of God’s word. Together we encourage one another, and we help one another. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching.”
Please know that each and every member of the body of Christ that meets at Karns is needed. You are encouraged to make every effort to be in attendance for worship and Bible study. Lean on one another, pray for one another, seek out others you don’t know well, share your struggles, and help one another.
For the elders, Terry Clark
