Have you taken a moment to really observe our little men as they dutifully go around and collect our attendance cards at each service? They are so anxious and full of joy to have an opportunity to help in the worship service. You can see the enthusiasm in their diligent effort to make sure they get their job done. If they get overlooked for one of their aisles to cover you can see the disappointment in their eyes. I sure do enjoy seeing these little guys happily carrying out their task at hand.
This does cause me to me wonder though just how these young boys may perceive us older ones as we carry out tasks for the church. Do they see or hear us make excuses for why we would rather not be involved? Do they observe our somber demeanor and begrudging way we do the work? Do they see us trying to avoid being active in the daily administration of the work of the congregation? May it never be! Just as they count it a privilege and honor to be able to help serve the rest of us, may we take a lesson from them and strive to do our best to set the kind of examples befitting these young workers in the kingdom.
Jesus said …”Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it” (Mark 10:14-15).
To all you young guys who have so wonderfully served us and performed a task well done, thank you, thank you and thank you. May God continue to bless you as you grow up among us.
