The flywheel effect is a commonly used business term referring to the idea that once forward progress is being made, it is the best time to keep things going and increasing. It is also related to the idea that consistent steady work is the key to success, not some sudden great big thing. Old tractors used to operate under the same principle; they ran better when you kept them steadily going along.
At Karns we have witnessed many good steady things happening and we should all work at keeping this going. Steve and Justin have been here for about a year and are working well together. Several members have been added throughout the year at a steady clip. We had one of our largest VBS crowds in recent history. Thirty-two of our family traveled together to Honduras and met with great success. We continue to make small incremental improvements to our facilities. Many Bible studies and correspondence courses are being conducted. Two more deacons have been added to help us better serve the Lord. We had one of our largest fellowships after a Sunday evening service the other night. I guess we each all like our own ice cream or maybe it was both. Our summer series is continuing to have great speakers and are well attended. And last, but not least, ground has been broken for the new sign to help us be better identified within the community.
Let’s all resolve to keep these good things happening by committing to do our individual parts. We still have a lot to do in better serving God and with daily steady progress we will be pleasing to Him. As Paul was always “pressing on” we would do well to do likewise. We will not be done until we rest with our Lord in heaven.
But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love (Ephesians 4:15-16).
