In the beginning God… (Genesis 1:1) Have you ever given serious thought about the infinite eternal existence of our Almighty God? The beginning talked about in Genesis 1:1 is for us, not God. We have a beginning and it all started with the very first second. We measure time which always begins with the number 1. We have the very first 1 second, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 year, 100 years and even 1,000 years. Yet our God has no 1, He has existed forever. Even the term “forever” implies a beginning point of time, but God is eternal, having no beginning.
Sherrye and I have been watching the Olympics and cannot help but be aware that all the races have a start time. If a person fails to be there for their start time, they are eliminated from the event. Those who are there to start are allowed to compete and have an opportunity to win the race. Like the Olympics there is a time to start running in our Christian life. If we do not start then we have lost already. However, if we start now beginning with 1, and continue each and every day, we can win and live with God where time is measured no more for us.
Make your plans for the “start time” to be today. Start now by becoming a Christian. If you are already in Christ then decide today to start with 1 prayer, 1 Bible reading, 1 encouraging act to another, 1 invitation to someone outside of Christ and keep on adding 0’s to those 1’s.
It’s your “start time”!
