Spring Storms

This time of year is very exciting!  It is a time of new growth, bringing spring flowers and a newness in life with the birds and forest animals.  This time also brings those spring storms which we expect each year, allowing us to prepare for them.

Wouldn’t it be a little easier if we knew when the storms of life were going to arrive? If only we could prepare for them so they wouldn’t catch us off guard.  Unfortunately, the storms we face are a certainty.

There is a saying about the storms we face: “You either just came out of a storm, you are in a storm, or you are fixing to go into a storm.”

We are blessed to have a Savior who loves us and will be there for us.  Psalm 46 tells us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in a time of trouble.”   Isaiah 41:10  says,  “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Our God is with us!

He has given us a family to lean on and to help us!  Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”  In times of trouble, the value of friendship becomes ever more apparent. God should be our anchor in life’s storms but in His grand design, He gave us a family to help us.

Our family can make tough times more bearable and provide comfort for us. We should also strive to be that same source of comfort for others. It strengthens our bonds and we will become a closer family. In Galatians we are told to “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).   Life’s storms are inevitable, but they do not have to be faced alone. Let us look to God and lean on our family during these storms of life.
