The Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies is a very important and long-standing work of this church. Training men to go out into the world and spread the gospel is not only vital for those lost souls in the world, but it is the mission of the church (Matt. 28:19-20). Study and preparation to preach are necessary to be effective. We are not endowed with natural talent when it comes to imparting the word of God to others, we must be diligent in our efforts and well-prepared.
Though Timothy was a constant companion of the apostle Paul, and though the apostle’s hands had been laid on him resulting in the impartation/reception of some spiritual gift(s) (2 Tim. 1:6), Timothy was still instructed to “Study to show thyself approved unto God” (2 Tim. 2:15). Though winter was fast approaching (2 Tim. 4:21) and Timothy was encouraged to come shortly (2 Tim. 4:9) and bring Paul’s cloak that he had left at Troas, he was instructed to bring “the books, but especially the parchments” (2 Tim. 4:13). Paul was trained in school as a young man yet was ever striving to learn more and study to rightly handle the Word.
Our school is special for many reasons. It was conceived long ago by our shepherds Harold Duncan and Frank Huber. It has continued to be a point of focus with every eldership that has followed in their steps. We are thankful for all the men who have so dedicated their lives and have come to be directors and teachers in the school. We are blessed to have the talented ministers on board at present who are well capable of training and mentoring men to be faithful gospel ministers. We are blessed to have the many fine students that we do, who have devoted themselves to this work. Southeast is rooted in the Bible and is determined to remain balanced.
I encourage each member to get to know a little more about the school, her staff and her students and come to appreciate this great asset we have to better ourselves and better deliver God’s message to a lost and dying world.
For the elders, Gregg Woodall
