No leaks in the ARK!

Sherrye and I recently made a visit to the “Ark Encounter” in Kentucky with our friends, the Tidwells, from Ohio. The day started out a little rainy and overcast, a perfect setting for visiting the ark. As we toured the ark I asked Sherrye to see if she could find any leaks anywhere inside. We did not find any leaks in this replica of the Ark. I do not believe there were any leaks to be found in Noah’s Ark either.

It would have been unthinkable for an ark built to God’s exacting specifications to leak. The salvation of Noah and his family was dependent upon the stability and sea worthiness of the ark in the waters that flooded the earth. Had Noah built the ark by cutting corners or failing to follow God’s instructions, then it stands to reason that he and his family would have likely succumbed to the same fate as the world.

When we water down God’s word or fail to follow it as God commands, then we are not truly following God and His will for us. The loss suffered will be ours.

Noah and his family were saved because he “did all that the LORD had commanded him” (Genesis 7:5). Paul tells us, “for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). We must always strive to teach and practice the whole counsel of God.

Our world is constantly encouraging us to compromise our Christianity by watering down the Word or by ignoring its principles. John said, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).

Let’s do our best to hold true to God’s word and live faithfully to our end. Paul said, “by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you–unless you believed in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:2).

It’s OK for our boat to be in the water, we just don’t want any water in the boat.
