Sherrye and I have been overwhelmed with the care and concern that you, our brothers and sisters, have shown toward us in this time of her affliction. We are not the first to go through this ordeal and I am certain that we are not the last. I often wonder how people of the world can survive times like this without the tremendous love and support of family and a devotion to our kind and loving God. We love and appreciate each and every one that has included us in their prayers and are so thankful to be a part of such a loving family as we have here at Karns.
Our Lord said, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34). It is obvious Karns is able to practice this without it being treated as a compulsory command to keep, but a privilege we have as God’s children to help one another.
His beloved apostle said, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth (1 John 3:18).
John 13:35 says, By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
I believe we face such things in life to develop strength and encouragement to press on with the lives God has given us to live. These difficult times are actually disguis es for opportunities to demonstrate to the world our love for one another and our reliance on God.
A verse that has always helped Sherrye and I to get through those difficult times in life and which is among our favorite passages in all the Bible is Roma ns 8:28, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Again, Sherrye and I wish to express our heartfelt love for you and the love you have shown for us. Together, through our mutual reliance on God, we will overcome this cancer, will be stronger for it and better able to serve our Master who sustains us.
