This past week, several members of our congregation have been engaged in an active door-knocking campaign throughout the Karns, Powell, and Amherst communities. Around 27 Karns members and Southeast students knocked on over 1,600 doors and completed around 50 neighborhoods. As a result, we have about 71 new contacts to follow up with, which represents 16% of everyone who opened the door. This includes 2 who are interested in studying the Bible.
Over the past few years, we have had several people come to Christ as a result of door-knocking efforts. It does work, but it takes time. I used to be skeptical myself of its effectiveness, but now I can see the impact it has. We must go to the many to find the few.
Our work is not done and will never be done until the Lord returns. We have about 70 neighborhoods yet to cover, including several under construction. Many neighborhoods have “No Soliciting” policies, but if you live in such a place, you can still help invite neighbors you know to come and learn about Jesus Christ or visit for our upcoming Friends and Family Day on Oct 27.
I would like to thank everyone who was involved this past week, including our kitchen staff, students, and members who made all this work possible. Many of the students walked miles and miles this week to reach the lost. Make sure you especially show your appreciation and encouragement to them.
Please pray for our ongoing follow-up efforts as we seek to sustain relationships with those whom we have met. If you would like to get involved, please let me know. As Jesus said,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matt 9:37-38 ESV)
