Many of us may have things in our lives which we’d rather were not known about us. So, we often hide and bury them from view.
This might work among men, but not with God. He knows! Don’t ever allow yourself to think that anything escapes his notice. He makes this very clear in scripture.
“Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD (Jeremiah 23:24, NASB).
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good (Proverbs 15:3, NASB).
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there (Psalm 139:7-8, NASB).
Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD, How much more the hearts of men! (Proverbs 15:11, NASB)
Your heart is exposed before God, not just what you think, do, or say, or where you go, but your heart. Your heart, the root of all your thoughts and actions, is exposed to God. Is your heart pure? It is hard to be absolutely honest with ourselves in the innermost and deepest levels of the heart.
We are told in I Corinthians 11:28 to examine ourselves while partaking of communion. Practice this examination of your heart each week as you commune and remember Jesus to help you get better at seeing yourself for who you really are.
So, how do you hide from God? You don’t, you can’t! Purify your heart and be glad God is watching you.
For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil (Ecclesiastes 12:14, NASB).
