God Will Take Care of You!

Often, while singing during the worship service, I wonder if we truly pay attention to the words of the songs. Do we believe what we are singing and more importantly, do we live our lives in concert with those words? The song “God Will Take Care of You,” has some lines that we (myself included) would do well to think about and live out daily.

1. Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you; Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you. o Refrain: God will take care of you, Through every day, o’er all the way; He will take care of you, God will take care of you.

2. Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you; When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.

3. All you may need He will provide, God will take care of you; Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.

4. No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you; Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.

I recently had a very stressful week and prepared for an especially trying meeting with someone that was antagonistic toward me and our topic for discussion. Sherrye and I prayed before the meeting several times, and as I thought about the words to this song I felt better about going into the meeting. The meeting went much better than expected, and I thanked God for the good outcome.

Perhaps you, like me, need to stop occasionally and think about how these songs can bring comfort to us in our daily lives. After all, didn’t Paul sing while in prison? I believe his singing helped to bring him and others some solace in a difficult situation.
