Friendship Day!

The Karns church of Christ is a FAMILY. Today is the day the family has invited company over for dinner. We are so glad you are here for our special day. We are simply Christians. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and we try to follow it as our only authority in religion. If you are a visitor, you can expect to be treated as an honored and respected guest.

If you are not familiar with the church of Christ, there are a few things you will notice about our service. In keeping with our efforts to follow the Bible, our worship consists only of those activities authorized by command or example in the New Testament. Our singing is without an instrument. This singing, unaccompanied by mechanical instruments, conforms to the music used in the apostolic church and for several centuries thereafter (Ephesians 5:19).

Also, a central part of the worship is the observance of the Lord’s supper. On Sunday, the first day of the week, we observe the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of our Savior’s death, as told in the Bible (Acts 20:7).

We pray to the Lord. God the Father is considered the only one to whom the prayers may be addressed. It is further understood that Christ stands as a mediator between God and man (Hebrews 7:25). All prayers are therefore offered through Christ, or in the name of Christ (John 16:23-26).

Through sermons we exhort one another to “continue steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine”. Only on Sunday do we take up a collection, and this is so members can give as they have purposed in their hearts, (I Cor. 16:1-2). As a visitor, you are our guest, so please do not feel under any obligation to give.

We believe that the services conducted today are a return to the basics of the Bible in the first century when it was written. Not only is this return to New Testament Christianity a wonderful basis upon which all believers in Christ can unite, it is absolutely solid ground. If we do just what our Lord commanded we know that our salvation is certain. If you have any questions, please ask anyone, they will be happy to talk to you, or they can direct you to one of our ministers or elders. Thank you again for worshipping with us!
