Be Still, and Know that I am God

Our nation and the world are currently in the middle of a pandemic. The news we receive daily is sobering. Many have been impacted physically and economically; some have lost their lives. The order of events can be very unsettling, causing fear and anxiety.

Peace can be found in God and his Son, the Savior.

The Psalmist wrote, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah” (Psalms 46:1-3).

Jesus spoke these encouraging words to his disciples, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

We are presently not able to be together physically; however, we can be connected in mind and spirit through prayer for one another, staying in contact, taking advantage of the online “live” Sunday morning Karns worship service, and viewing the “live” Wednesday evening Karns Bible class through Facebook.

Secondly, we can still be doers (James 1:22). As many are unable to leave their homes in the coming weeks, there will be many opportunities to serve. For example, several of our deacons will be reaching out to our members and asking them to check on our elderly. Needs may vary from running an errand to cooking and delivery of a meal. Most importantly will be the need to stay connected with one another.

The shepherds walk by your side as we negotiate this challenging time. We pray daily for the flock. God the Father and the Son are with us, and we can find peace in them.

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
