As summer fades, the excitement and anticipation of a new school year is upon us. These times can be very scary and exciting for students and parents. This is a time of new routines, new friends, and seeing old friends.
For parents, it can also be stressful. We have questions and worry about the challenges our children face. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Parents, we are praying for comfort, patience, and wisdom as you guide your children. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
To the students going back, whether it be for kindergarten or away to college, we are praying for you. We are praying for your safety and for your growth of knowledge. We are also praying that you are not ashamed or afraid to be different. Not as the world defines different, but as God defines different; a city on a hill as described in Matthew 5:14-16.“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Let your lights shine so that you can see the opportunities God puts in front of you to share the good news, remembering our vision as one family.
For all of us entering a new season, remember Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
May God continue to bless this family.
