Appointments

Appointments are important. When you make an appointment with someone you and they are committing to be there at the time of the appointment. If you do not keep your commitment you are basically breaking a promise.

People do it all the time. Sometimes it is due to circumstances outside their control, sometimes from an oversite, and sometimes it is just plain inconsiderate. The fact remains that the appointment was made, it was real, and the time of the appointment was set.

We all have a real appointment set for us that we cannot break. We all know we have it, but we just don’t know when it is. Hebrews 9:27 states, “… it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment:” This is one appointment you must keep. It is impossible to break this appointment.

The Bible makes clear the certainty of this appointment: “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:19) “For we must needs die, and are like water poured out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again” (2 Samuel 14:14). “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass” (Job 14:5).

Do you want to be among those mentioned in Hebrews 10:27 who have “…only a fearful expectation of judgment”? II Corinthians 5:10 reminds us that, “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.”

There is a certain “fearful expectation of judgement” and eternal punishment if you have not prepared for that appointment and there is a peace which passes understanding and eternal reward when you are prepared. Determine today and every day that you will be preparing for your appointment with eternity.
