We often sing the hymn “I Am Resolved.” Resolve can be defined as a firm determination to do something. For 2019, let us resolve to:
Give more attention to spiritual and Godly matters and less to the care and many distractions of the world
Be regular in attendance when our church family meets for worship and Bible study Engage in daily, regular personal Bible study Engage in daily, regular prayer for one another Greet visitors and newcomers, even when it is outside of your comfort level Know our new members by inviting them into your homes or meeting them for a meal Encourage someone who is struggling or becoming distant from our church family; send a
note, call them, ask to visit, and simply offer to listen Be engaged with our church family outside of our regular meetings; every 4-6 weeks invite
others into your homes, go to lunch or dinner, or make a visit Share the gospel with a friend, neighbor, family member, coworker Purpose and plan your financial giving to the work of the Lord Pray regularly for our missionaries and send words of encouragement Pray regularly for and encourage our ministers Pray regularly for and encourage our deacons and staff Pray regularly for and encourage our teachers
Pray regularly for our shepherds.
All this may seem overwhelming and daunting; however, these are things we should already be doing as mature Christians. There are 359 days left in in this new year. Our resolve as a church family at Karns to do more for the kingdom and one another will no doubt strengthen our bond and love by the end of 2019.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-25
